Detailed Introduction of Tool Aprons Types of the Slitter

Blade is the executive part of the whole slitter. Whether or not the blade can good shearing effect has a great relationship with the blade or even the setting of the knife rest. Each slitter has a certain structure of knife rest, every kind of knife rest has its own characteristics and applicable scope. Having a knowledge of these can help you to choose a suitable slitter.

The tool apron of the slitter has four kinds of structures, namely, slide block type, eccentric type, cutter shaft length adjustable type and swing arm type. The slide block type is one of the earliest and most common type of slitter. In the whole tool apron, the part of the lower cutter shaft is fixed in the movable frame and the fixed frame, and the upper cutter shaft is between the left and the right sliders so that the sliders can move up and down in the guide rail of the movable frame and the fixed frame.

Most of the so-called eccentric tool aprons are dual eccentric, that is to say, its upper and lower cutter shafts are supported in the eccentric sleeve, and the synchronous gear shaft is driven in the opposite direction by adjusting the gear drive to adjust the eccentricity, thereby changing the height of the upper and lower cutter shafts.

The tool apron with cutter shaft length adjustable has such a feature that the moving frame on the left side can be adjusted to the pair of blades that are close to the leftest end of the cutter shaft, which makes the working length of the cutter shaft shorter to increase the stiffness of the cutter shaft. Because of this characteristic, the slitter can be used to shear both thin strips with large width and thick strips with small width. The last type is the swing arm type tool apron, its structure is much simpler compared with other types, so it is mainly applied in the slitting of thin strips.
